I looked at my map for a green space I hadn’t been to, and saw Kite Hill Open Space.

Too much city lately, let’s go climb a rock…

This house looks sherbet greens from the street, but if you look up when walking past it, there is a surprise of chartreuse on the overhangs:

chartreuse is one of my favorite colors 😀

I usually register that Bi-Rite on 18th has flowers for sale when I walk past, but today I stopped to see them—really interesting, quirky blooms, not the usual carnations-and-baby’s-breath kind of thing…

I’ve spent many an afternoon on a park blanket at Dolores, with friends and adult beverages or with a book and a snack. Loved the place, but was always on the look out for bottle caps and cigarette butts, and trying to not think about what was soaked into the grass! I hadn’t been through since the newly-renovated north side was re-opened—wow! Why hello, Dolores, you’re looking mighty fine these days…

The little building at far right, above, is a bathroom—a really FANCY bathroom! If you have ever spent the friends/beverages kind of afternoon in the park, you will understand why this is very exciting. Two thumbs up.

Coffee acquired, time to climb…Wiki sums up Dolores Heights pretty well: “…Many streets within Dolores Heights are dead-end cul de sacs connected by steep staircases with beautiful views.” This was at the bottom of the first staircase I climbed at 19th & Sanchez. Naturally-arranged potpourri debris…

I wonder how many people trying to win Darwin Awards inspired TWO very loud signs…

Oh look, what a great view of the Sutro Tower!

(This is why we are a city that whose fog has a name!)

Coffee is my co-pilot. More stairs… These hills will kick your butt, but something about climbing around on staircases that weave through trees and flowers just to walk down the block makes it seem like a city-sized jungle gym. Into it.

This hill will kick your butt… but it’s so pretty, you totally won’t mind…

I saw signs and stencils on the sidewalk that said simply “SLIDES” with arrows pointing… Yet another place I’ve heard of but never been! Quick detour… I did not bring any cardboard today, alas…

And finally, Kite Hill, accomplished! Cloud City:

So, this place is named “Kite Hill” for a reason. This is a SLOW-motion video of how wild the winds are. Hold onto your hats!

I do not own a kite, but with Karl (the Fog) rolling in waves from Twin Peaks and Sutro Tower, overhead, and down over into the city and over the bay… Not a bad spot to just sit for a spell and watch some cloud ballet…

Time to go home…

Awww, really??! I’ve already bowed out of a dinner plan tonight because I need to catch up on some projects and BLADE RUNNER is playing? Wishing for a clone of myself for the 3,472,189th time…
