Today I had work to do, and knew that I would be shooting an event later in the evening, so I just went on a quick coffee expedition. I decided to go straight down Mission and back up Valencia—two streets I walk down almost every day—and try to see new things, and make small portraits of things I see and appreciate often that are a part of my neighborhood for me…

Like the giant Doc’s Clock sign, which I so used to seeing lit up at night that it feels strange to see it against a blue sky!

In the Mission, murals on children’s schools absolutely have skull-faced figures and it’s totally not out of place or morbid… Because Día de los Muertos! Obviously. Happy skulls…

Love this! I always get asked in June why the Elbo Room changed their name to Amelia’s? Ahem: Happy pride, love Elbo.
